Too big for the cover of Elle magazine?

They wrapped Melissa McCarthy in a Marina Rinaldi coat last year. For the annual Women in TV issue, Elle magazine published 4 different covers featuring Amy Poehler, Zooey Deschanel, Allison Williams and Mindy Kaling. The other three were full-body shots, while Fashionista says, “It’s perhaps worth noting that Kaling, the only woman of color to get her own cover, is also the only cover image rendered in black and white.” Mindy Kaling who, at a size 40 Eu, 1O US, the largest of the four women gets a cropped image of only her head and shoulders. Why? Is she ‘too big’ for the cover of Elle magazine? Or just a coincidence? That her picture is cropped? Finally there’s the opportunity to show size diversity on the cover of Elle… Maybe next time?

Elle’s statement? “Mindy looks sexy, beautiful and chic. We think it is a striking and sophisticated cover and are thrilled to celebrate her in our Women in TV Issue.”

Mindy Kaling opinion is quite funny:
