How men reacted to a ‘Fat Girl Tinder Date’
A woman who is fat
Sam Pepper’s three-part ‘social experiment’ two guys decided to make a video about gender discrimination and how both men and women reacted to meeting a stranger from Tinder who is ‘larger’ than their profile suggests. The number 1 fear of women on tinder or dating sites is to meet a serial killer. The number 1 fear of men is to meet a woman who is fat. And I am a little disappointed in this. And what is ‘fat’?
Not a size zero
Being single myself lately, I also went on Tinder. And I must admit, I did something I just noticed. Every time a man was interested in me. I told him: “I am not a size zero”. I am a big girl. Because, when I will meet a guy in real, I don’t want to give the wrong idea, image of myself. Because my face looks like a small size woman.
You know, I am very proud of myself. I am very comfy with my body in my size. So, why on earth, I have to mention that I am not a size zero? I am proud size 44.
Doesn’t matter what size you are
Most of the men reacted very positive. And told me they prefer ‘normal’ size women. They don’t like skinny women. So this confirmed that it doesn’t matter what size you are. And there were also a few men who were very honest to tell me they prefer skinny women. And I did appreciate that as well.
What I don’t like about this video and this experiment, is that the woman is totally different. They could have shown an older lady. Or not that pretty. So, it’s not the issue being fat or skinny. Just show yourself on dating sites or apps who you really are. Of course you want to show you on the most beautiful way. The most flattering way. The same happened all the time with MTV’s Catfish. Men and women who are disappointed to meet finally their love contact in real and the person is not the one who they think they are.
FaceTime or Skype
I also had some dates and was very surprised the man didn’t look like the pictures. Most of them did. But it had nothing to do how fat the man was. No, with instagram, photoshop or other filters you can become someone else. My tip! Before you meet someone in real, first talk to each other by phone. Or if you have iPhone, give FaceTime a go or even on Skype! Also to know each other a little better! You can already have a pre-check. If the person really is the person on the picture!
You always want to be the better version of yourself. Not only on dating sites. But also in real life! Be yourself, don’t act. Show your self in your own unique way! And in the end, it does’t matter what size or age you are. If you are confident with who you are. You are powerful and no one can be disappointed.
Have you ever lied about your size? Of has your dates been canceled because of this? I am very interested in your date experiences!
