Franca Sozzani

I feel so sad about this news

Franca Sozzani, a beautiful and important fashion queen has passed away today after a year-long illness.. I feel very sad, I just heard this news. Only 66 years old. She was an Italian journalist and the editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia from 1988 to 2016.

She did something special for the acceptance of plus size models in this fashion industry.
In February 2011, she launched Vogue Curvy, an arm of vogue. It staffed by plus-size bloggers who offer fashion tips for the full-figured. That’s why I think she is special. I have a lot of respect for her. It makes me think of the time my collection was published on Vogue Italia. I was and I still am, very very thankful!

Franca Sozzani: “In ‘Curvy,’ they are superhappy with their sizes. We help them dress fashionably. We say: It’s pointless for you to buy leggings, take this because this will look good on you. We help them choose. We don’t talk about diets because they don’t want to be on a diet, but it’s not a ghetto. Why should these women slim down? Many of the women who have a few extra kilos are especially beautiful and also more feminine.”

Franca Sozzani is awarded with the Swarovski Fashion Award For Positive Change.
She has been chosen as its first recipient as a result of “her commitment to diversity and for utilising her position and influence to positively impact the wider world”, in her role as global ambassador against hunger for the UN World Food Program; her work with Convivo to eradicate AIDS; and her work with the European Institute of Oncology where she is committed to diagnosing and preventing oncological disease.

Her beautiful words, this was in December this year.

For me THE ‘real’ QUEEN of fashion is Vogue Italia… so our ‘real queen’ Franca Sozzani has passed away.

Franca Sozzani: “I don’t like fashionistas. They only wear the brand. You want to become a fashionista? Easy! Spend money.”

Franca Sozzani:”Giving back is the new luxury”
